Qigong

I'm interested in the connections between the body, emotions and spirt; somatics and devotion. How we can heal, grow and adopt these ideas as a way of life.

In Qigong the flow of energy around the body and through the energy structures can be impeded, stuck, sluggish, hot, cold, ungrounded etc.  And the freedom to be found in a body that is mobile and vibrant, is an enjoyable and liberating experience.

Through practice emotions are balanced and fluid, and the mind is calm.  Health is an empowering, resourcing, and profound way of relating to life, our own, and other peoples. In Chinese medicine these imbalances can be addressed using stretching, opening and aligning techniques, which change the way we 'hold' ourselves, bringing awareness too, and altering, energetic patterns.

There is a Chinese term 'Song' which is like an unattached relaxation, that implies softness, allowing, and letting go. It is the opposite of trying, tension and strain.  And quite an art, it allows a spiritual ease and naturalness to develop.

Qigong outside is a beautiful and connecting experience; we can open our energy to include the flows in the natural world, and learn our place in the cosmos.  As we exchange and harmonise our energy with nature, it alters and deepens our relationship to both heavenly principles and respect for the earth.
